Until yesterday, even this morning, everyone was expecting cloudy weather towards the start of the race, however the weather turned out to be fine. This was an innocent mistake that pleased everybody.

The group of people are wearing original caps and T-shirts are from `Akita Industrial High School`, are No.86 in Junior Class.
Around the car, 10 mechanics are giving the car a final check and there are 10 supporters lined up neatly.

At 8:00 AM, there was a Starting Ceremony. The atmosphere of the race became more intense.

At 8:30 AM, 83 cars all started at once and the tension rose again.

No.17, the Desert Rose, which carries silver-zinc batteries performed an emergency stop due to a strange noise in the car straight after leaving the pit. When the Marshals lifted the array smoke came out.
Surprisingly, the batteries had caught fire. This was due to overcharging of the batteries which throughout the day proved to be a rare occurence. After the emergency repairs, the car proceeded with the support of the surounding teams.

In this race, there are two cars carrying Super Capacitors. They are No.7 Tokai University Solar Car Team and No.19 Tamagawa Solar Challengers. If you have any enquiries, please ask the technicians.
Apparantly, this is the first time they`ve been used and this is impressive.
